I fished the afternoon rover at Heron Brook and, after drawing near the end, decided to head for Peg 17 on the Canal.
It was a tough start. I managed one fish early on down the short line, but after that bites were very hard to come by. For the next couple of hours I searched around the peg, trying different lines and areas, but the fish simply didn't want to know.
The match improved later when a few fish started to show in the margins, allowing me to put a few more in the net and build my weight during the final stages.
At the weigh-in I finished with 74lb 11oz.
While 74lb 11oz wasn't enough to trouble the leaders, I still enjoyed my afternoon on the Canal. The fishing was challenging throughout, but the late margin fish made for an interesting and enjoyable match. Heron Brook was looking great as always, and it was another good day spent on the bank.
